Center BD

Life Cycles

As the Center is built to guide our community through growth and change, we recognize the intensity of life cycle moments in the good and the grief. Just as we shout “mazel tov!” at the end of a new b’mitzvah’s Torah portion, we whisper kaddish at minyan and Shabbat services and wrap our arms around mourners who are experiencing a new loss or observing yahrzeit. The point is, there’s power in experiencing these moments together.

Soul-Searching through JudaismCenter BD

Experiencing Life Cycles Your Way

The Center is an intentionally inclusive community where our people can authentically be themselves – that’s a blessing when we’re experiencing the biggest moments in our lives. In these moments, our souls’ searches and reflections on legacy come into focus. We hope everyone who comes to the Center will feel they belong, whether they were born Jewish, chose Judaism, or simply love someone Jewish.

B'mitzvah Journey Center BD

B'mitzvah Journey

In addition to weekly classes, and one-on-one mentorship with Rabbi Jacobs, b’mitzvah families also meet on a regular basis. Together they explore the history, rituals, and traditions surrounding this joyous milestone and discover parallels between this Jewish rite of passage and modern pop culture.
The b’mitzvah program is held on Sundays at 10 a.m. and one-on-one lessons will be scheduled directly with Rabbi Jacobs.

Bris and Baby Namings

Bringing a new baby into the world is a beautiful celebration for parents and families members.  This, too, is a communal simcha. As it takes a village to raise a child, it takes a community to welcome a little one into the covenant of the Jewish people.

Weddings Under Our Chuppah

Beautifully intimate and communally festive. When two people come together in marriage, they make the entwining of their lives official. At the Center, Rabbi Jacobs guides every couple in creating a meaningful ceremony, melding Jewish ritual with the couple’s personal taste and character. When couples embark on this next chapter, Rabbi Jacobs helps guide them to continue crafting a Jewish+  life and home where they thrive together.

Funerals and Unveilings

We are the result of those who came before us. While our Rabbi provides care and support to mourners during times of loss, our Rabbi is available to officiate at funerals and unveilings for families in our Center community, and to assist in Jewish mourning practices in the days following shiva. In the event of an after-hours pastoral emergency, please contact the Center office, which will direct you to the phone number of the emergency contact person.
